Set against the pine forests and mountain backdrop of Gulmarg, this resort uses sloped green metal roofs and warm wood and brick facades to sit comfortably within its alpine surroundings. Large glazed windows and covered verandahs open the interiors up to the views, while the design draws on a chalet-style vocabulary suited to the region's snow and terrain. Stone retaining walls and landscaped grounds tie the built form back into the natural slope of the site.
